Acilius Sulcatus

The weirder and more unknown, the better when it comes to wildlife and the underwater world.

This piece is a study of Acilius Sulcatus, photographed by neurobiologist Igor Siwanowicz from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The reference image was taken with a confocal laser-scanning microscope, that is capable of seeing vast amount of detail beyond what you might capture with a traditional lens-based microscope.
